"Going Nuts"


Hi to all my Raw friends,
I have to confess. I have been heavy on the nuts an seeds lately. I don't know what's happening. I know this is a stressful time of year for us all, however, I get started on those nuts and seeds and then I can't stop. When I first became raw, two years ago. I ate nuts and seeds very sparingly. Now I find myself binging on them all the time. I have gained back 15 pounds since my Juice feast. The good thing is, I have been 100% raw vegan and haven't swayed. The bad thing is, I have been an emotional eater my entire life. This is not he way to go for me. I prayed often that the nut and seed binges are not a major set back for me. I wondered if maybe my body is trying to tell me that I have a deficiency. I researched the vitamin and mineral content of nuts and seeds and this is what I came up with. I have a vitamin B deficiency. It really helped me to check in with myself.

138 days post juice feast

Wow! I haven't been here in a while. It's been 138 days since I completed the juice feast. Life has been good post JF and I've been enjoying my 100% raw vegan lifestyle. I must admit, I miss the way I felt on the juice feast. The euphoria and weightlessness made me feel magical. To be able to transform myself was an awesome experience. In August I made yet another major decision. I cut off all my dreadlocks. It was difficult letting them go, however, it was another step towards transformation and renewal. Cutting my hair meant letting go of the past and making room for the new.




I have to tell you that it wasn't easy when I first began this raw journey. I had many hurdles to jump. I was very ill, had difficulty walking and was overweight before going raw and then juicing. I needed to take better charge of my health so I went raw overnight and I never gave up. It was too important to me to turn back to the SAD(Standard American Diet). I don't suggest that everyone go 100% raw and I don't suggest doing it overnight. Go at your own pace. Do what's best for you. I still need to check in with myself from time to time. We all have our challenges. I find that I need to pace myself when feeling stressed or confronted with unplanned circumstances. Planning my meals is the key to my success. I find that if I do not plan, I have tendency to overeat nuts and seeds. For me, the most challenging of all, is my family and friends. I am the only one in my family who eats raw, therefore I am surrounded by cooked food daily. I still cook for my husband even though I do not eat the food I prepare for him. I feel empowered that I am able to maintain my diet with such challenges. When I go to out to eat I always have a cool bag with raw goodies and my own homemade dressing. I can create a wonderful vegan salad with my goodies to a basic dinner salad or a plate of raw veggies. I never feel left out at social gatherings. I just become more creative.



Today I have decided to go on a water fast because nine days from now, I will be celebrating my 50th birthday. I would like to begin this new phase of my life with complete purity. For the first time in my life, I can say that I have literally been reborn. Because of my raw and vegan lifestyle,at age 50, I am not on any medication and my health has improved by leaps and bounds.

Life After Juice Feasting

Life After Juice feasting (Day 28)

It's been 28 days since I broke my juice feast. Settling back into eating has its challenges. Everything tastes so good. I have to watch myself carefully, as to not awaken old overeating habits. Being 100% raw vegan is a permanent lifestyle for me. I am setting new goals for myself as far as physical exercise. I was not very good about keeping up a routine in the past and my muscle tone reveals my neglect. I am continuing to feel fantastic. If It were possible, I would juice feast
for a year. It's not recommended to juice feast more than 3 months unless you
are under the care of a professional.

My sleeping patterns
Last nights sleep: Very Good
Night sweats: None
Chills: None

Dreams: I have some memory. Only bits and pieces.
Energy level upon waking: Moderate
Mood level upon waking: Very Good

This is what I had today

16 ounces of coconut water

Mixed sprout salad and dulse over baby greens w/ sunflower seeds and pepita seeds w/ flax seed oil, hemp oil, dried herbs and apple cider vinegar.

8 oz of soaked prunes



Detox Symptoms: A little more sleepy then normal.

Eliminations: Daily
Food cravings: Only for raw vegan live food.

Physical changes: I started putting some weight back on. I did get pretty thin while juice feasting. I am now needing to maintain my current weight.
Emotional changes: I feel content and happy
Exercise: Walking to regain strength in my legs: 30 min


Challenges: Keeping the "sleeping giant"(appetite)from waking up, out of control.

Day 7 post Juice feast

Day 7 post Juice feast

Hi Everyone,
It's been 7 days since the end of my juice feast. I have been taking it very slow getting back into the world of eating. It was so easy juicing. Now I have to watch myself to make sure I don't overeat. so far I have only been able to drink smoothies and eat fruit. Tonight I will have my first salad. I am going to put the greens in my food processor and chop them until they are fine. My tummy is like a baby's right now, so I am treating it that way.

Last nights sleep: Very Good
Night sweats: None
Chills: None
Dreams: I dreamed about eating cooked food last night and I awakened this morning thinking I had undone all the cleansing I had done for the last 3 months.
Energy level upon waking: Moderated. Now that I am eating, I find myself feeling like I need a nap in the middle of the day.
Mood level upon waking: Very Good

Juice Schedule

32 ounces of water w/ lemon and MSM*

I ate a bunch of organic red grapes

32 ounces of Green Smoothie (spinach, arugula, celery, avocado, and garlic) w/Chanca piedra* extract

Green salad( mustard, turnip and collard greens and spinach) w/ dressing made with flax oil, apple cider vinegar and a blend of dried herbs.

Detox Symptoms: A little more sleepy then normal.
Eliminations: Frequently but not uncomfortable. I had a lot of gas on day 1 and it was gone by day two. I haven't had an enema since day one, however, I feel a weekly maintenance is a good idea.

Food cravings: Yes and I want to eat everything. I know that I need to be very conscious about what and how much I eat.
Physical changes: I've gotten very slender, my skin is smooth and clear. I have mental clarity and physical energy. My chronic health issues have improved greatly. I feel like a different person is living in my body.

Emotional changes: I feel content and happy

Day 1 post Juice feast

I awakened this morning in anticipation of creating my sacred space. I had soaked my prunes over night and was now ready to consume the soak water. Before I started, I had to verbally express my whole experience with juice feasting spiritually with my SO (significant other). It added power to my sacred ritual. He has been patient and understanding every step of the way, even though he was not a part of the juice feast. I love him so much for supporting me. There have been some concerns about how thin I am and I want everyone to know that I am ok. Eating will put some weight back on. I had been blogging here as well as on Globaljuicefeast.com and everyone has been a major support in my accomplishment. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all have been wonderful. I want to also thank David and Katrina for an outstanding job creating the global juice feast and an awesome community...happy tears and a BIG HUG!!!

All I can say is wow! it is day 90. The past few days have been very emotional. I haven't been able to blog because my attention has been focused inward. I haven't had much to say. For some reason I have been craving silence and solitude. Now that the juice feast is coming to a close, I prepare myself for the reintroduction of solids. I bought my prunes and I have a sacred ritual planned. I don't have a video cam so I won't be able to share my experience visually. I will write in detail the event every step of the way. I send out warm and loving thoughts to all who have been on this juice feasting journey with me.

Day 86

10 Days to go and prunes are beginning to look really good to me. I 'm starting to get hungry, however, I don't want the feast to end. I have enjoyed the freedom of not eating and restful benefits it has has on my body. This my seem bizarre, however, I've been thinking about it a lot. I am concerned about eating again, due to my past eating disorder, I'm afraid of doing something crazy like bingeing on prunes. I know this is extreme thinking, but I know myself so I am planning ahead
for the end of my juice feast. I love how my body looks now. I feel young again. I am just a little underweight right now, however, I noticed when reading post juice feasting blogs that you will gain some back. Being under weight is a good thing for me. I didn't drink any green juice today. Watermelon has been my juice of choice for the entire day.

Watermelon has been on sale and I got 4 medium sized and lived off of just watermelon juice for a few days. Today I'm back on greens again and I love them. Yum!!!
I am at a loss for words these days. I am still in love with juice feasting. it's going to be tough for me when it comes to an end. I feel so clean. I've been in a emotionally good place for the past several days. I think it's because of the juicing
and spiritual work combined. I had a couple of days where I didn't want green juice.

I'm feeling great again. I attended a sweat lodge last night and it helped me to resolve a lot of the emotional stuff that has stirred in the last couple of days. If you have never experienced a sweat, I recommend it highly. I have been to a few of the now and it has become a regular practice for me. Being on the juice feast intensifies the experience.

Day 64, 65 and 66

Day 64, 65 and 66

I had a major emotional upset this weekend and it was a real challenge for me. In the past I would have handled an emotional upset with bingeing on food(even raw food). I was quite proud of myself for not throwing in the towel and undoing all my cleansing. I handled the pain without the comfort of food. For the first time in my life, I allowed myself to really feel hurt and anger. I cried today, like I had never cried before. I let myself feel anger and not tuck it away and let it eventually turn into disease or physical pain. What a new experience for me. Juice feasting isn't just healing me physically, it is expanding me spiritually. I could not have been able to make it to Day 66 if I hadn't added the support of my spirituality.

Day 63

I'm feeling much better now. The allergy symptoms I have been having for the last several days have been intense. I have had sinus pain, headache, continuous sneezing, itchy throat, nasal congestion and watery eyes. I have been drinking a tea made with half a lemon, a tsp of raw honey, fresh ginger and a few cloves of garlic in a cup of boiled water. I must have smelled like a garlic field, however, I couldn't tell because I haven't been able to smell for days.

Energy level upon waking: Usually high but the allergy has drained my energy

Physical changes: I lost two more pounds. I'm not worried about how much I loose because I know that I will regain some when I return to eating solid food.
Emotional changes: I've been a little irritable because allergies.

It looks like I am behind again on my blogging. I got Parastroy* today and I will start taking it tomorrow(Day 60). I have been having some intense detox symptoms. Mostly emotional mixed with bursts of euphoria. It's been quite interesting. Yesterday I did not want juice. I only drank water and had some tea. I don't know what was going on, but juice was not on the menu. I still have a rash on my neck it looks as though it is healing. I wonder if it may be uric acid coming out through my skin. I have been taking the Chanca piedra consistently. The seasonal allergy is back again. I have been sneezing all day today. I'm not sure what blooming now, however, I'm back on tiny bits of Bee pollen* to help get me through.

Day 55

I had a slight headache today. I think it was because I had been in the sun too long today. It gets hot and dry here in Phoenix and you can dehydrate very easily. I noticed that I wasn't urinating as frequently as I had been. Yesterday I was a little off my juice schedule. I only managed to get in 2 quarts of juice. I felt fine, not deprived at all. Today I'm back to normal.

I've been getting kind of backed up on my posting. I'm still continuing to feel great. I went to two restaurants with my juice and so far, it hasn't been a problem. Just in case, I created a restaurant card. I got the idea from Victoria Boutenko in her book, 12 steps to raw food. I received my book, Anastasia, by Vladimir Megre' today, I am so excited.
I feel like a child with brand new toy.

I'm getting quite skinny. I don't mind it too much, however I still have a month in a half to go. I wonder what I will be then? I added some coconut oil as a supplement today. I actually took it a step further, Spirulina Bars

I measured :
1/2 cup of organic, unrefined coconut oil
1/3 cup of organic raw honey
1/4 cup of spirulina
1/4 teaspoon of Celtic sea salt

Blended it together and poured it on a plate and placed it in the fridge. When it hardened(approx. 10-20 min.), I cut it into tablespoon size pieces. Yummy!

My juice has been all about the greens now. I haven't wanted fruit. It just hasn't appealed to my lately.

I went to the Diamondbacks game last evening( Yay! they won!) and sat next to people eating peanuts, hot dogs, pizza and beer. The combination of smells was overwhelming, none of which triggered any cravings. I had my bottle of water with me and I was fine with that. I didn't bring my juice with me because you can not bring any food or drink into the ballpark. I find that to be a challenge for me most places.

I started taking Chanca piedra* today. I was so sure about the extract because it contains alcohol. I diluted it in a small glass of water and chugged it down. I have never experienced kidney or gall bladder stones. I feel for people who do.

Dreams: I had two dreams that were very vivid last night. The first was at my mother's home. It was a new home, one I did not recognize. We were celebrating my birthday, my 50th birthday. She was lighting huge black candles all over the house, 50 of them. It was weird. My second dream involves an incident that I didn't deal with some years ago. I won't mention it in detail because of confidentiality. In this dream, I was able to express the anger I should have expressed in the past. I woke up this morning with rapid breathing, but also a since of relief.

I started growing my wheatgrass again and it is ready to add to my juice. When I drink a shot of it, i find it is too intense. It sends me immediately into a cleansing reaction. Today I going to start my sprout garden again. I go through my sprouts so fast I almost need a green house. Lately I have been posting two days at a time because I haven't been able to use my computer.

Detox Symptoms: Off and on I have had redness in my right eye. I don't know what causes it. I think it's a signal for me to flush out toxins.

Food cravings: Yes. I found myself thinking about eating the nuts my spouse left on the coffee table. It wasn't an intense craving, however, as long as they were there I was was thinking about them.

Physical changes: Throughout the entire time of illness. I have had a greatly enlarged lymph node underneath my right arm. Since the juice feast, it has reduced in size. By the end of the juice feast, I'm hoping it will be normal. I also released 2 more pounds as of today.

My significant other says our whole house smells like lawn clippings and that it is over powering. He also says I need to ease up on the garlic. He's not raw and he is not juicing, however, somehow we manage to live together in harmony. I received my dehydrator yesterday and I started making my own green powders from the fiber after juicing. It's just too good to go to waste. Today is shopping day and I'm going to experiment with some new juice recipes.

I have been sneezy for a couple of days. I sneezed so much, I threw my back out. I added an extra 1/2 tsp of MSM to my lemon water to help get me through the worst of it. I'm using my hot water bottle to keep it warmed up so I could move around and make my juice. I didn't take any remedies. I want my juice to be the medicine.

I have had some pretty intense cleansing reactions in the last 48 hours. Without getting too graphic, I have been having very loose eliminations at least every hour for the past two days. My skin is extremely raw. I decided to use zinc oxide ointment as a last result for comfort. I hope zinc oxide ointment isn't toxic. I am desperate.

Happy Belated Easter!!!

My green Juice tasted like chocolate milk. It was the craziest thing. The whole entire quart was like drinking Nestles Quick*. I hadn't drank chocolate milk since I was 10. I have been lactose intolerant for years. I can't imagine drinking any kind of milk product. I hadn't posted in a few days because I haven't had access to my computer.

I had a busy day today. I had to keep reminding myself to drink my juice. In the past, before I went raw, I would work like a made woman and not stop to eat because I thought it would slow me down. I feel I need to get into a spiritual place before taking that first sip of juice. It will help me focus when I start to eat solids again.

Today is the first day, since I have been Juice feasting, I allowed myself to fall short on juice. I didn't think i would run out fruits and veggies so soon before my next payday. I was lucky to have Vitamineral Green* on hand to fill in the gaps. I must have miscalculated my grocery budget or I made some extra expenses that I didn't
count on. Overall, I made through ok. I have survived on much less prior to juice feasting. I not worried about starving.

Physical changes: People are beginning to see a physical difference in me.
